Conical springs
Conical Spiral Springs
Conical springs represent a special type of compression springs with a conical shape – their diameter is smaller at one end than at the other. When compressed, the coils can nest into one another, allowing the spring to occupy less space. Unlike cylindrical springs, their spring characteristic is non-linear – the resistance is lower at the beginning of compression and gradually increases. Thanks to their conical shape, they are more stable under load and less prone to buckling or bending.
Applications of Conical Springs
Conical springs are used in various industries:
- Automotive industry – shock absorbers, seats
- Electrical engineering – switches
- Toolmaking – clamping mechanisms
- Industrial machinery – damping and return mechanisms
- Medical industry – implants, dosing pumps
Surface Treatment of Conical Springs
- without surface treatment
- manufactured from galvanised wire
- electroplated zinc coating
- powder coating – Komaxit
- Deltatone
- tin plating
